Another difference between humans and animals is LANGUAGE. All living creatures communicate in one way or another, through sound, smell, touch, taste, color or posture.
(bird singing: “This is my territory!”)
(bee’s colors: “I sting!”)
(peacock’s feathers: “Hey baby!”)
(flower’s smell: “I’ve got nectar!”)
(snails smooching with their tentacles)
We humans have definitely refined communicating by making sounds! There are about a quarter million words in the English language alone!
And what’s more: we solidified language in SCRIPTURE.
Yiri: “I must admit I’ve never seen animals do that!”
Me: “Hurray! Finally a truly exclusive human trait! The ability to convey concepts (both concrete and abstract) by turning them into SYMBOLS.
Yiri: “Wait a minute… We have taught dolphins and apes to communicate with symbols, too!”
Me: “Okay - but they had to learn it from us! So that doesn’t count.”
